Snow Days

0

We ended up getting a few inches of snow during the last week here in Kentucky. I still kept my commitment to go walking every day even during the freezing weather. I have been taking my camera with me every time that I go out and have been trying to see what I can capture. I am actually looking for the cougar that my grandparents have spotted a few times but still have had no luck in seeing him. The weather here has been hovering around the 15 degree mark and I have been having to bundle up everytime that I go out.

The Round House and a Bird

4

When my Grandfather retired, he and my grandmother moved to New Concord, KY. They left their regular style home in Greenvile, MS and built a round(actually an octagon) house on Kentucky Lake. They have lived here for over 13 years and everyone in the area knows about the round house. In fact, the pilots at the local Air force Base use it as a turn around spot. My grandmother has met a pilot who was thrilled to meet the lady who lived in the brown round house near the lake.

I was sitting in the den looking at the bird feeder when I noticed a huge black form in the top of one of the trees. I quickly realized that a bald eagle had landed in one of them. I ran out with my camera and was able to get a couple of shots before it flew away. I guess he was camera shy. It was an awesome site and I hope that I get a chance to get some more photos.

I think that I am going to rent a longer zoom lens for a couple of weeks. I am currently using a 70-200 f/4. I am thinking about renting a canon 100-400 and maybe a teleconverter. I did have to crop the eagle photos a little too much. I would love to have some super closeups.
