starBUCKS
3Last semester I bought a grande caramel latte pretty much every weekday. I did the math, and it seems that I am blowing a $100 or more a month on coffee. I have a great coffee maker at home, and there is no reason for me to spend the extra money for a shot of caramel. Since I have already decided to give up fast food for health reasons, I can sock away extra money on that savings as well.
Giving up Starbucks and fast food will put about a $2,400 a year in the travel slough fund. The plan is to transfer $200 on the first of every month to our travel savings fund. Through out the year I am going to be looking for other ways to to increase the balance of this fund. JJ and I really want to go to Europe when we finish school next year. I figure that in a year and a half by not indulging in fast food or ordering coffee from Starbucks that I will hopefully be able to save up enough to cover our air tickets.
On the Road Again
0The Willie Nelson tune comes to mind. This trip will be a little over 400 miles. It will be nothing compared to the massive road trip to Key West. JJ and I will be heading to New Concord, KY to visit with my grandparents. We made our last trip last summer and can’t wait to visit with them again. It has almost been a year since we spent a month in Kentucky after having just arrived in America. The only thing that we have scheduled to do is to go to Mass on Sunday. The rest of the time will be spent just relaxing and enjoying time with Grammy and Poppa. I am sure that I will get out near Kentucky Lake to try and get some photos of the bald eagles.
We are bringing our cat, Sohee, with us which should make for an interesting trip, as she is not the best rider(My grandfather is a retired veterinarian and I want him to check her out). We haven’t decided how long to stay in Kentucky, but it will probably end up being only a 4 or 5 night stay. JJ and I both want to have some time to get organized before school starts on the 18th.
Here’s to the New Year, and I hope that yours is blessed.
Resolutions for the New Year
0It seems that every year I make the same resolutions and only stick with them for a month or so. I was going to create a huge list of resolutions but thought it would be better if I just wrote a few that I could promise myself that I would stick to. After not keeping my resolutions for the past few years, I know that it will be difficult to keep them, but I have promised myself that I am going to see them through this year.
