I recently started learning Arabic and although it is going to be very difficult, I have enjoyed trying to learn the writing system. I even ordered a couple of Arabic calligraphy pens. I will still continue to concentrate on my acquisition of the Korean language, but I thought it would be fun to throw a different language into the mix.

Besides distinguishing between the different characters, it is going to take some time to get into the habit of reading and writing from right to left.

I have given some thought to taking Arabic during the fall semester, but I will probably only be able to do so if I am granted a listener’s license. A listener’s license is very simliar to auditing a class, but the class would not show up on my transcript, and I would not be allowed to take any tests or participate in class. I am not sure how strict the university is on participating in class since it would be strange to not participate during a language class. I haven’t made up my mind yet, and I will probably wait and see what by class load looks like.
