Happy Thanksgiving

November 27, 2009

We had an early lunch with the Mississippi family and then with the help of my brother Hall we drove to Jackson in two cars to pick up Jaeyoun’s family. We checked them in to their hotel and then brought them back to my parent’s house for their first American Thanksgiving Dinner(Well, truthfully leftovers!) They loved the turkey and dressing! We exchanged some gifts and my brother-in-law surprised me with a case of Soju! JJ’s mother made purses for my mother and grandmother. My mother got JJ’s mom a Mississippi Snowball, a pearl cluster.I took a ton a pics!~ Tomorrow is the rehearsal dinner and another day of errand running!

So, our wedding is Saturday night. We have spent the last four days running all over Hattiesburg. Tonight, we met with our photographer David, who is awesome by the way. He made us both feel very comfortable and at peace with our decision to use him for our wedding. We spent most of the day trying to find clothes to wear for the rehearsal dinner and at the last minute I realized that I had no dress shoes and Jaeyoun needed a cardigan, so we had to go back to the mall! We will get up in the morning and help my mother cook, have Thanksgiving dinner and then drive to the Jackson airport to pick up Jaeyoun’s mother, father, sister, brother-in-law, and nephew. We will then come back to our house for dessert and coffee. Jaeyoun and I will also open some of our wedding presents when everyone is together. We have been averaging about 1-2 a day and have a bunch to open~!!~

I also am working on a speech that I am going to give at the rehersal dinner. I want to do it in both Korean and English, so I am having Jaeyoun proof my Korean. It would probably be more authentic if I just tried to wing it, but I really want them to be able to understand me.

We still have not figured out what we are going to do with her parents on Friday. We really don’t have enough time to go anywhere and there is really not much for them to see here in Hattiesburg.

I still have tons of Paris photos to process and upload. Here are few of my favorites from our day at the Muse de Orsay.

Shower Day

November 23, 2009

I was kicked out of the house on Saturday around 9:30am after being sent on a million errands. I had to pick up 50lbs of shrimp to be used at our rehearsal dinner. I then just drove around trying to figure out what to do next, since my house was off-limits. I ended up getting a call from my brother Brent and went over and watched some football with him. We hung out till the shower was over and then went back home to eat left-over shower food and rest.

We watched football all day(Did you see the end of the Ole Miss/LSU game?) and then went out and saw some friends. We moved from there to Shuckers where we listened to The Foulon Brothers play a couple sets. This was my first time to hit Shuckers in Hattiesburg. The atmosphere was great. It is a very small bar and you get the feeling that everyone knows one another. In fact, I even recognized most of the people that worked there. The Foulon brothers put on a great show and are a great cover band. We also had some oysters on the half-shell! I was the DD, so I got to watch mom, JJ, and Brent shoot tequila and probably drink a little too much beer. We came back home around 12 and stayed up talking and catching up.

Shower Prep

November 21, 2009

My mother and sister are throwing Jaeyoun a lingerie shower(Woo! Hoo! Isn’t this kind of for me) tomorrow morning at 10:30. I will be kicked out of the house around 9. I haven’t exactly figured out what I am going to do, but I will probably take my laptop to Starbucks and kill a few hours.

Jaeyoun and I spent the day running errands for my mom and ourselves. We picked up her wedding dress from the cleaners and also met with our organist/pianist. Have you ever met one of those people who is just happy to be alive? This was our first time to meet Cristina/ Mrs Moreland. She helped us pick wedding music and she was fabulous. I mean she plays the piano wonderfully, but as a person she was lovely. As soon as we started talking to her, I knew that we had picked the right person to play music at our wedding. She almost made both of us cry with her music and comments. She told us that she uses her music to bless our wedding. She goes to mass everyday and hardly ever misses a day. What a lady!~

We also hung pictures and mirrors at the house day. We both earned our keep.

JJ cooked for us tonight and after a great dinner, I had to steam the carpet and get the house ready for tomorrow. My sister and her husband went shopping and then came back and helped. The girls polished silver and made floral arrangements and the guys watched tv and played computer games. We did a little bit of work here and there, but they carried most of the load. I also got to meet my new nephew ,Joey, tonight for the first time. What a sweet kid~! I think I got him hooked on tower defense.

Baby Jack!

November 21, 2009

Due to some scheduling problems and my sister-in-law’s father being in the hospital and my brother recovering from back surgery, I got to baby-sit my nephew for the day. JJ, my mother, and sister were going to watch him, but they needed to get some shopping done. Jack and I had a grand time and I didn’t even have to change him one.(Thanks Sarah!) It was fun spending time with him, but it does make me realize that JJ and I are no where near ready to have a kid.

Random Paris Photos Day 1-3

November 20, 2009

My computer sorted my photos based on North American time, so I can’t recall exactly when I shot most of these.  I believe most of them are from Day 3 when we visited the tower and walked around Trocadero.  I wish I would have gotten a picture of all the gypsies asking us if we speak English.  I always brushed them off and never knew exactly what they wanted besides money.  There was also a hustler who tried to pull the ole you dropped a ring trick.  I nearly kicked him as he was that close to me.  We also walked over to Hotel des  Invalides which was beautiful.  The leaves were blowing everywhere and I am going to have to dig through my files to find some more shots.

JJ and I have spent about a week trying to find a car here in Hattiesburg.  We visited a bunch of car dealers(Late at night, so to stay away from aggressive salesmen), checked out the classifieds and scoured the internet.  We had been driving by mom’s Honda CRV and decided that we really wanted something that size.  We found a 2007 Santa Fe that was a pretty good price.  We test drove it and found that the driver’s seat was too small.  Basically, the seat would not go back enough for me to sit comfortably.  We then went to Mack Grubbs Hyundai in Hattiesburg .  We found a used 2008 Santa Fe with about 30,000 miles that was in our price range.  The size of the 2008 had been extended and I could actually sit without my knees touching the steering wheel.  We dealt with Eric Tengan who was knowledgeable, but still a car salesman. (Sorry Eric!) We felt like we got a good deal and both Eric and Keith(The sales manager) were curious about Hyundai in Korea and were both surprised to hear that the Sonata was used by taxi drivers.

JJ and I love the new car, but I am sure that my mother is happy that I no longer have to steal her car.

I am about to idea one more item to the menu for the wedding reception.  This guy has been causing me all kinds of problems.  Not only has he stolen a bunch of shoes from our garage, but he also came my dog the mange. Boshintong may be added at the last second to the menu.  If you are outside of Korea or don’t know what I am talking about click on the link.

About a 3 months ago, he gave my dog, Moose, the mange.  Moose lost all of his hair and the mange spots grew back grey. I don’t think I could kill him, but it looks like my brother-in-law and I will trap him and set him loose in the country.  He doesn’t have a collar and will probably be killed by one of our neighbors(or me) if we don’t catch him soon. There is no humane society in Lamar county, so really the Sheriff’s office told me good luck and to handle the problem.

Moose’s new look: Spotted.  I may go out and buy him some “Just For Men
